Cirque Du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil is the world leader in modern circus entertainment.
Beginning in 1984, Cirque du Soleil has performed in 450 cities across 60 countries and to over 180 million spectators. Constant expansion also means the company now employs 4000 people, including 1300 performing artists from nearly 50 countries.
Their stage shows blend a variety of disciplines such as dancing, singing and traditional circus acts. Due to the high-risk nature of many of the performances, production teams use rigging equipment and lifting gear to alleviate safety concerns.
Representatives of Cirque du Soleil contacted SWR, as they required secondary safety systems for use during production of their most recent shows in Barcelona. The solution had to be light, easy to use and compact enough to store away at the end of a night’s work.
After discussing a number of options, it was agreed Jockey J3 units were the ideal fit for their requirements. Lightweight and easy to transport, Jockey units are portable hand hoists for manual lifting, pulling and lowering. Despite their compact size, each unit has a working load limit of 300kg and built-in overload protection.
The show’s schedule meant a quick turnaround time for the Jockey J3 units was crucial. Our production team quality checked then carefully packaged 34 Jockeys and 34 x 20 metre lengths of Maxiflex wire rope before sending out for delivery.
Our trusted courier delivered the order to a requested location in Barcelona on time and with all relevant export documentation. If you need wire rope solutions for a project, please contact us. We provide a complete range of high-quality products and bespoke services tailored to every customer.
