SWR’s hand tools are convenient for occasional splicing of wire rope and are particularly useful on suspended ducting, lighting, ceiling applications, display boards and varied other (non - critical) applications. There are three basic models, although a special version can be produced upon request.
Where using plastic covered wire ropes it is advisable to remove the cover within the splice area in order to obtain maximum efficiency. On all splices ensure 'dead end' of rope protrudes up to half of one rope diameter after pressing. For galvanised ropes use aluminum ferrules and on stainless steel ropes use cooper ferrules.

*Ferrule Type A refers to British Standard Ferrules. Type D refers to DIN Ferrules.
For wire rope limits, refer to the relevant ferrule instruction chart. Ferrules A2.5/D3 and above require two or more 'bites' to derive optimum efficiency. For full 'guaranteed' splice efficiency the use of a
hydraulic crimping tool or a
25 tonne hydraulic hand press & Swage are recommended.
